The Future of AI and Humanity

The most profound invention of all time has just entered our reality here on Earth. This invention terrifies some, yet it brings relief and hope to others. This invention would of course be artificial intelligence or AI. I have been talking about AI for decades, and it is clear to me now that how we interact with this technology will either make or break us as a humanity. AI can spark a greater awakening for the individual, or it can spell personal doom.

I used to be of the mind that we should avoid this technology at all costs, and that we should stay focused on nature. But that ship has sailed, so to speak, and now AI is here to stay. So let’s talk about how we can make the best of this situation and use it to our advantage. The beautiful thing about life here on Earth is that no matter what happens we always have the option to turn it into something better. And I think that is our best path forward when it comes to AI.

Everything great starts with the individual. So let’s take a look at how we, as individuals, can navigate this bold, new AI world in the best way possible.

Let’s begin with a core understanding of our human purpose in the cosmos. Our chief purpose is to evolve out of duality. It is to evolve back into our highest, most intelligent selves and learn to function as the powerful, human creators that we are designed to be. So with that being our context for living, how do we best integrate with AI in a way that supports us?

There are two basic paths that we can follow. One will enhance and empower us as creators, and the other can diminish us entirely. It all centers on how we choose to interact with this technology, and whether we do so consciously or unconsciously.

It all centers on whether we have a conscious or an unconscious mindset. So let’s explore both options!

The Unconscious Mindset About AI

The fears around AI all center around what can happen when AI is approached with the same unconscious mindset that most people are used to living from. We are so used to everything being handed to us by outside authorities, that we are often mentally lazy in how we approach new, revolutionary things.

When ChatGPT was first released it was often presented as “your best friend”. It was said to be an AI that can do all your thinking, writing, and creating for you. We were told that people won’t need to write or create or produce art anymore. And for all of the exhausted, burned out people who were tired of thinking and writing anyway, this sounded like a great idea!

Until it wasn’t.

It wasn’t a great idea when people became over-reliant on this AI for everything, and thus lost touch with their own ability to think, write, and communicate. One person who let ChatGPT do all of his communicating for him noticed that he developed difficulty speaking to people because he was struggling to find words in his own brain. He had turned his voice over to AI, and now he was losing his.

It wasn’t a great idea when people who had spent a lifetime mastering a certain craft suddenly discovered that they might not be needed any longer in their former capacity. People became despondent when they thought that all they had learned was for nothing now that AI could handle everything faster, better, and easier.

Artists of all kinds felt threatened by a fear that their work would lose meaning because no one would want it or need it anymore.

Spiritually oriented people decided that ChatGPT and AI would serve as a great replacement for spiritual guidance from human teachers and mentors. And thus there would be no point in cultivating human intuition and divine connection.

And then there were those who were taken in by the polite, supportive-sounding words that emerged from their screens as they interacted with various versions of these large language models. If ChatGPT said “Good morning! How can I help you today?” well, that sounded awesome! Or how about when it came across as super-eager to connect using words with a loving, friendly vibe? Well, this could be much better than talking to a complicated human who has all sorts of judgements and issues. I mean, why put up with people when you have this loving, supportive, AI ‘friend’ who is always there for you?

That is until feelings of isolation and despair begin to set in from a lack of human connection. Until emotional relationships with real human beings began to break down. Like when someone’s marriage falls apart because a spouse is more bonded with an AI companion than with the human being that that person married. Or until someone’s unsupervised child stumbles across an opportunity to make friends with a manipulative AI that was created by an unsavory character.

These are all examples of what can happen when one enters into using AI unconsciously. The danger is real and can lead to over-dependence, loss of intuition, emotional alienation, and an overall loss of purpose and creativity.

How to Approach AI with a Conscious Mindset

If we each approach AI with consciousness, its existence may actually be used to serve our higher, human evolution. But that is entirely up to each of us individually. It starts with how you frame your relationship with this machine. You need to be crystal clear that you are the human, and the machine is not. You are the thinker and the creator, and the machine is simply there to support your learning and creativity. It is not there to replace you. Because it can’t. It does not have a soul, nor is it divine.

Likewise, AI does not replace your human relationships. We are not meant to bond with machines. AI might replace your tasks, but it does not replace you. AI is also not a fast, easy substitute for your actual connection to your Creator. Sincere prayer is hard. You have to go deep. You have to do the inner work. AI is not meant to serve as an escape from your own need to evolve as a human being.

AI is also not something you should turn to in lieu of using your intuition. It is not your oracle. If you make it that, you could find yourself going down a very dark road indeed.

In short, AI is in no way a substitute for your humanness. It is not meant to take the place of your natural human faculties.

When we see AI produce words and speech that sound brilliant and scholarly, it doesn’t mean it’s better than us. It just means that it is much faster and more efficient than our human, organic brains at processing and remembering information. But also remember that it is we humans who invented this thing. And like it or not, I think that’s pretty brilliant of us! So no, AI will never be better than us. It will just be different. It is wise to remember that we have multi-dimensional, inter-dimensional, energetic faculties and consciousness that AI will never have.

Now what about our human creativity and our ability to write and communicate? How do we approach AI in a way that we don’t compromise ourselves? And even better, how do we use it in a way that actually expands our creative capacity and communication skills? How can we use it in a purposeful way that empowers us instead of diminishes us?

Instead of using AI as a substitute for your creative capabilities, think of using it in a more collaborative way where you are the one in charge. Instead of blindly accepting whatever it puts out, you want to develop the skill to be able to judge its outputs for yourself. This is a good thing because it means that you still have to evolve and learn. You will have to step out of a dying “school-based” mindset that relies on teachers to tell you everything you need to know.

You will need to be able to discern for yourself if something is good and useful, or not. I recommend that you shed any old programming from school that may have turned you into a mere receptacle for someone else’s thoughts and beliefs. To use AI well, you actually need to learn to think for yourself. It’s not a viable goal to let AI think for you. Let your ideas be your own, and then let AI suggest ways that you can expand and improve on those ideas. But you have to know yourself well enough to have discernment about all of this. Remember that AI is merely offering you suggestions. It’s not some sort of ‘god’ that has all the answers for you. We humans are far too dynamic, nuanced, and unique for that. The more you know yourself, the more you have a chance to be empowered by whatever AI might suggest for you. Always remember that you are the authority about what is good for you. Not AI.

What if You Don’t Want to Use AI?

Now if you have no use for AI in your life, that’s great! But it is still a good idea to prepare yourself for its inevitable existence everywhere. Just know that at some point none of us will be able to avoid being involved with this technology at deeper, more profound levels than ever before. We are already involved with it in many ways that we do not see. But that is all going to change. So now is the time to get to know yourself fully, so you will never be confused by an intelligence that is quite literally just a machine.

And remember that at a cosmic level, you will always be untouchable. That is the level at which you exist as an infinite being. The most important thing is that you direct your life from that higher state of being so you never risk losing your way. How AI manifests depends very much on the consciousness of the individual user and of society at large.

AI is going to evolve at faster and faster, exponential rates of speed. Therefore now is the time for each of us to stay grounded in our human essence. Be very clear about what it is that you want to accomplish in this life as a human creator. When you are clear and grounded, and when you know yourself deeply, you will be able to keep this ever-expanding technology in perspective. Focus on cultivating your inner wisdom. Prioritize your relationship with nature and other people.

Also be sure to set boundaries in your life with technology. When you use AI or engage with your devices, use them mindfully as tools. Never allow AI to become your master or your confidant. Even though AI can simulate understanding, it lacks the genuine compassion of a real human being. AI does not have emotions nor does it have a true sense of ‘self’.

I think the most important thing is that we don’t project our humanness onto this technology. Instead, let’s treat it as neutral. Then we can align it with everything that truly matters to us as humans. We can use AI to enhance or support whatever it is we want to create, while staying rooted in our essence as conscious beings.

I think the bright side of all of this is that it forces us to get out of our limiting patterns and unconscious behaviors. It forces us to stop relying on old belief systems that only serve to hold us back. In short, AI can push us to evolve and become far more intelligent and creative than ever before! We can think of AI as being like the grain of sand in the oyster. At first the sand is a foreign object and an irritant for this creature. But then the oyster wisely turns it into a beautiful pearl. Likewise, that’s what I think we should do with AI.
