Create an Oasis of Peace
Have you noticed how much turmoil our world is in right now? Although you may not be directly affected by this, you can still be energetically affected nonetheless. In the same way that we all share the same physical atmosphere of air to breathe, we likewise share a global atmosphere of energy and consciousness.
For this reason, it is so important that you create some space for yourself that holds a sense of peace for you, within that larger global atmosphere. It’s important to feel some sense of command over the energetic atmosphere that you personally live within.
The reason this matters is because if you don’t provide yourself with that space, you may find yourself experiencing symptoms of stress that come with your deeper self sensing all of this turmoil. Your intuitive self will feel it, even if your conscious mind doesn’t know what it’s all about.
You might find yourself feeling reactive and on edge, and not knowing why. It may seem more difficult to relax and feel happy and optimistic. You might feel a nameless sense of anxiety or a general sense of worry and discouragement. You may think it’s just “you”, when it really isn’t. You could just be reacting to that larger, global energy.
Why is it important to feel some degree of control over your experience?
If you don’t provide some space of peace for yourself, you may begin to question your ability to control the larger events in your life. The larger feeling of a world that seems out of control can overtake your own sense of feeling secure in a predictable world of your own.
The wonderful thing is that you can create your own private oasis of peace that gives you relief from the energy of a world in turmoil. This is so important because it gives you an opportunity to show yourself that you have the ability to create your very own environment of stability and serenity. It shows you that you have some control in your own life.
This will give you the necessary confidence to take hold of the reins of your life, and continue to create the other experiences that you desire. You do not have to let the outer world dictate your own capabilities as a creator.
So let’s talk about how to do this, by creating your private oasis of peace.
Step 1. – Create a paradigm of peace
The first thing to do is to create what I call a paradigm of peace. This starts with mentally outlining exactly where this oasis is located for you. It starts with outlining a space for yourself in the physical world where you know that the only purpose of that space is for you to let go and relax into a deeper sense of serenity.
How do I create this space?
On a physical level, your space can be anywhere. It can be a room in your home. It can be a special place outdoors in your garden. It can be as simple as a favorite chair or a corner of a room. It can also be as elegant as an entire meditation room.
The important thing is that you identify it, and refer to it as your personal oasis of peace. The reason this matters is because when you choose to go there, it will automatically signal to your body, mind, and emotions that it is time to let go and relax. It will signal that in this space your consciousness can find refuge and feel safe, protected, and free.
The simple decision to go there will trigger this positive response more and more. You will have decided that in this space, there is no stress or turmoil. In this space, you can just be.
Step 2. – Choose some sacred items for your space
It helps to place some sacred items of special meaning around you in your space. This will enhance your feelings of respect and honor for your oasis. It makes it more powerful.
Here are some examples of items that you can place there:
- Crystals
- Candles
- Fresh flowers
- Angel statues
- Spiritual images that hold meaning for you
- Anything else that feels calming and peaceful
Step 3. – Decide how long you will spend in your oasis
It’s important that you make a conscious decision to spend a certain amount of time in your oasis of peace. It can be anywhere from 5 minutes to as long as an hour. The reason this matters is because it serves to enhance and strengthen the parameters of your space. You are mentally creating those parameters by deciding how much time you will spend there. It makes it more real for you as an area that sits apart from any current feelings of outer discord.
In other words, it’s like saying to yourself that within this space of time, nothing will impinge on your serenity. This is what makes it an oasis. It’s like closing the door on the outside world, so that you can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that you are safe and free in your own quiet space.
Step 4. – Decide what you will do in your oasis of peace
You can do anything you want here, as long as it is peaceful and relaxing. You can meditate, pray, daydream, listen to music, draw, journal, connect with your spiritual guides, or read an inspiring book. Whatever you choose to do, make sure that it elevates you in some way and clears your mind of any discord.
It’s important to be clear about your purpose in being in this space. The purpose is to enter a self-created refuge of serenity, where you can let go, regroup, and come back into a harmonious state of relaxed consciousness.
You should view this space as being filled with light, and as a space where nothing inharmonious can enter. This is your special oasis, away from all the troubles of the world.
Step 5. – Create a beautiful energy!
Now that you have finished creating your oasis of peace, and deciding what you can do there, it’s time to create an overall, beautiful energy to support you.
First, make sure that your space is clean, conscious, and quiet. If you live with others, ask them to respect your time there.
Ask Archangel Michael to clear the energy around and in your space. You can also light a candle with the intention to clear the energy. Play some beautiful music for yoga, massage, reiki, or meditation in order to add a higher vibration to the space. You can even try a recording of simple nature sounds. Aromatherapy using essential oils or incense can also be helpful.
And finally, visualize a brilliant, white light filling your space and raising the frequency to a higher level. You are a creator who has the power to do this.
Work with the energy in your space until you are satisfied that it feels calming and peaceful to you. Doing this will also move your own energy into a higher vibration and help you to feel so much better!
How often should I enter my oasis of peace?
You should definitely view your oasis of peace as a special retreat, whenever you feel a need to come back into balance again and feel your heart. This can be daily, weekly, or otherwise. It’s entirely your personal choice.
If events in the world are causing you stress, or if events in your own life are confusing and difficult, you can relax in the knowledge that you have created a refuge where you can go and find peace again.
Spending time in your oasis of peace will raise your energy, and give you hope. It reminds you that you indeed have a greater measure of control over your own consciousness and what you experience in life.
An oasis of peace shows you that you are never trapped in an unpleasant experience because you have provided yourself with a beautiful doorway that takes you away from it all.
In this way, you are acting as a creator that has control over your world. It gives you a platform of peace and transformation from which to re-enter the outer world with a feeling of being grounded and empowered, no matter what is going on with the rest of the world. From here you are much better equipped to take the necessary actions to make positive changes in your own life.
Is there anything special that you do to stay in balance when the world is in turmoil? I’d love to know your thoughts on this topic in the comments below!
I’m definitely feeling out of sorts. Extreme tiredness, grumpy, can’t be bothered with anything, those sorts of things. Sometimes very hot as well. Hope it passes soon x
Amanda, I’m sure it will pass. Meditation is a fantastic help for such things. 🙂
Hi Saratoga,
I love your message here, and the strong inherent platform of transformation. It ‘s true that we all share an energetic on this planet, and that we can choose what to vibrate with. For me, I can’t stick my head in the sand; I find the millions of innocent people displaced with the Syrian refugee crisis unfathomable, and people blowing themselves up anywhere and everywhere to kill fellow human beings completely insane. I have strong feelings about it all, there’s no way that I’m not affected on some level. However, I can’t, and don’t dwell on those feelings. I don’t watch the news anymore before I go to bed–I stay in touch with what’s going on but not too much or it renders me “inert”. For me it’s a fine line which I keep learning about. My tolerance levels are shifting and I’m listening to that.
I already do much of what you are suggesting in this message. I realize the only thing I can do is raise my own vibration, choose my own thoughts and create a safe and sacred place to do this as much as I can. I have created a daily practice which includes a morning (and often late afternoon) meditation, and trying to get back into my daily morning yoga routine. Writing, creating music at the piano, listening to music, breathing, reading–all things you are suggesting. (Lavender candlelight baths are also very good 🙂
I believe that transformation is at the nucleus of my experience in the midst of all the reigning chaos. It’s hard to see what’s going on and not engage in anger, frustration and deep sadness about all of the tragic events. I am appalled and so sad that so much tragedy continues, and is escalating, on our beautiful planet. I don’t understand why it hasn’t shifted yet. Sometimes I think that we have to destruct before or as we construct. But I wish there was a line in the sand already! When is all the pain and suffering going to be enough here! Whenever I think it can’t get worse, some other insidious tragedy occurs and people keep dying. I just don’t get it. It seems so foreign to who we are. I can’t imagine why anyone would even think of hurting another human being, or animal, or plant! Or why a mother can’t feed her baby and have a roof over her family, and a quality of life.
Thank you for the opportunity to tune into reality here! I realize that the only thing I can right now is watch my thoughts and create beauty and prayer and peace in my own life. And send it out. There is only Now, and I am mindful enough to make choices moment to moment in my own life. And certainly having a single beautiful sacred space of my own to “be” in, is key. And I am so grateful (working on gratitude) to have this in my life.
Sending blessings of love and light … always,
Leigh
Leigh, one way to look at all of the suffering on this planet is that it shows us all the more how much we are needed to be in peace ourselves.
If that vibration of suffering and violence can affect us, then we also need to have a positive effect of peace on the other side of this equation. Those of us that have the luxury of working to experience peace in our lives are truly needed right now to add some positive energy to this world.
If you go back and revisit my first blog entitled “Be the Sunshine”, it makes a really simple point of how this works.
Hi Saratoga,
I was feeling a lot of strange emotions this morning, which was odd, because I went to sleep in a really great space and I had such a wonderful weekend, so I couldn’t really find a cause for it. Eventually, I had a sense that I should check your Facebook page and the instant I read the post about this blog article, it all just evaporated away, literally within a heartbeat. I had been thinking it was me. Thanks for the gentle and timely reminder.
Lately, I’ve put some effort into making my living space more conscious and beautiful and I’ve really started to think of it as my oasis. Some days, I really just look forward to getting back to my space and to the peace that comes from being in it. After reading your suggestions, though, I realize I don’t have any one particular place that is completely focused on this. It’s spread all across in different places and sometimes shares space with areas for work and other things. I’m going find a specific area where I can spend time keeping my spirit up and see if that makes it even better. Thanks!
Avalon, I think you’ll find that having a special area for this really empowers the energy of that space. And it makes it much easier to feel that peace and tranquility when you need it. 🙂
The change of season affects all of us differently…sometimes we are tired because our issues plaque us and drain our energy effecting our spirit. Do you find that some things make you feel heavy? those things are negative to our existence but necessary for our growth. The path to that higher vibration is a lot of understanding of the things that are good for our development and growth. Being stuck in those heavy draining clouds of energy is a lesson to let go and move on to the next level. it happens to all of us…it is part of being human. Having a peaceful area, place is all part of our mental journey. Infinite love and blessings to all that are here with me today. Wish you all peaceful thoughts …<3
Kim, I hope you decide to get my new book “A Guide for Lightworkers by Archangel Michael” because it provides a fascinating perspective on some things you mention here. A real paradigm shift on the idea that negative things are necessary to our growth. Things change dramatically when you expand your view to a planetary perspective of evolution. I don’t know if you’ll agree with it or not, but you might find it fascinating to contemplate nonetheless.
Actually, my book just became available today, so I’ll probably announce it next week. Yay!
Thanks so much for your comment here. 🙂
Always Saratoga thank you for your uplifting, caring words of explanation! I thought it was just me!
Aww, you are very sweet, Barbara. And, no, it isn’t just you 🙂
